Troop 99 Outing Details
UNIFORM:
Class A uniform is required while traveling ON ALL OUTINGS unless
otherwise specified BEFORE the outing. Also, while at the location of the
outing class B uniform is to be worn. Non-Scouting T- Shirts, and and pants that are not
scout pants are unacceptable on Troop 99 outings. The only exception to that rule is while
hiking, special hiking pants may be worn. Jackets and sweaters that are not scouting ones,
may be brought, but please no sports teams on the clothing.
EQUIPMENT:
On backpacks proper backpacking equipment must be brought. Daypacks and
fisherman's packs don't cut it for backpacks. Make sure all of your gear is properly
secure before leaving. If it isn't, bring plenty of straps so we can secure it for you.
Also, be sure to leave plenty of room for troop/patrol gear. Everybody must carry their
fair share of food and troop/patrol gear to make the outing successful. Class A shirts are
not to be worn on the trail. Hiking boots must also be worn, tennis shoes are not
acceptable backpacking footwear.
On drive in campouts most anything can be brought. The only exceptions to that are that all clothes, must be scouting clothes. No street clothes, such as jeans, may be brought.
ELECTRONICS:
***** TROOP 99 IS NOT RESPONSIBLE TO THE LOSS OF ANY ELECTRONICS DEVICE. SCOUTS ARE
SUPPOSED TO BE TRUSTWORTHY, BUT UNFORTUNATELY NOT ALL ARE! *****
Most of these rules go for both!
On backpacks, personal CD players, or cassette players may be brought only after you have been on several backpacks. The main reason for that is during your first few, you don't know what you really need, and how much you can carry, and a CD player/cassette player is NOT NEEDED! Also, CD players/cassette player may only be listened to while on the trail, or when you are going to sleep. You are not allowed to just sit and listen to music in camp. Headphones must be worn while listening to your music, no mini-speakers are permitted on any campouts.
On drive in campouts the rules are the same, except that music may only be listened to inside your tent, at night with headphones.
FRS radios may be brought on outings. The troop has several which are used to maintain contact withen the junior leaders. We use channel 1 with no tone. If you bring a radio with you please refrain from transmitting on channel 1, unless you need to. You may contact any of the junior leaders on channel 1. If you can use a different channel for use between scouts, please do so.
Gameboys and other similiar entertainment devices are NOT TO BE BROUGHT TO ANY TROOP EVENT!
